Lyndhurst Books at the Center for Documentary Studies, in association with W. W. Norton & Company, has published Local Heroes Changing America as part of the Indivisible project. A foreword by Ray Suarez, senior correspondent for The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer and former host of National Public Radio’s call-in news program Talk of the Nation, challenges readers to consider a new perspective on communities, especially those we so often dismiss as disadvantaged or powerless. Local Heroes Changing America provides a permanent record of Americans engaged in public life at the end of the twentieth century. The book includes an audio compact disc containing excerpts from community interviews. Local Heroes Changing America is available in bookstores across the country.
