Volunteerism is probably the purest form of community policing that you can get because it's the community actually doing the policing, helping and keeping an eye not only on their own neighborhoods but also their assigned neighborhoods. They work side by side with the police officers. Not only do the citizens see police now, but they see a faction of the community the same as they are out helping to make their community a safer place to live.
